This policy explains what AgentOnRails (operated by Will Sanchez, a sole proprietor doing business as "AgentOnRails") does and doesn't collect. The short version: the software itself is local-first and doesn't phone home; the only personal information we collect directly is what you give us to request a trial, buy a license, or email us.
The AgentOnRails daemon and CLI (both the free core and the commercial add-ons) run entirely on your own machine or infrastructure. They do not send usage data, agent traffic, payment details, or any content back to us. Nothing about how you use the software — which agents you run, what they buy, what gets redacted — is visible to us, because it never leaves your machine by design. Wallet and identity private keys are encrypted at rest and are never transmitted anywhere to be decrypted.
We currently estimate overall adoption using sources that involve no new data collection about you at all: aggregate, anonymous download counts on our public GitHub releases, and a local count of how many trial licenses have been issued in total (see §2). Neither reveals anything about how, or whether, you actually use the software afterward.
If you request a free trial license, we (or software we operate) record your email address and, for abuse-prevention/rate-limiting purposes, the IP address the request came from. This is used only to: issue your license, prevent one person from generating unlimited trials, and produce an aggregate count of how many trials have been issued. It is stored on infrastructure we control, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties except as needed to operate that infrastructure (e.g., a hosting provider).
If you purchase a paid license, we record your email, license tier, and the license terms (issue date, expiry) in order to issue and support your license. This information is kept in a local record we maintain, not a shared marketing database, and is used only for license administration and, in aggregate, to track how many licenses we've issued.
This site does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party trackers. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers for those font files — that request is subject to Google's own privacy practices, not ours. If you email us (including via the "Enterprise," "Commerce," or "Design Partners" links, which open your own email client), whatever you choose to include in that email is handled the same way any email is: it reaches our inbox and nowhere else that we control.
We keep trial and license records for as long as reasonably needed to administer them and to keep basic business records. If you'd like your email removed from our trial or license records, email will@agentonrails.com and we'll do so, except where we need to retain minimal records for legitimate business or legal purposes (e.g., an active paid license or a legal recordkeeping requirement).
AgentOnRails is a developer tool and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect information from, children under 13.
We may update this policy as the product and business evolve, particularly if we ever add a mechanism that changes what's described in §1. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
